Through the Eyes of the Child Initiative

For the first time, the Through the Eyes of the Child Initiative will be awarding Child Champion Awards to individuals with particular dedication and service in improving the abuse/neglect court system to ensure better outcomes for the children served by it. The awards will be presented at the 2009 Nebraska Children's Summit in Grand Island on Friday, September 11, 2009.

Nominations will be accepted for the following categories:

1. Judge
2. Court stakeholder (any professional involved in the abuse/neglect court process - attorneys, caseworkers, CASA, FCRB, clerks, etc.)

Selection Criteria include:

• Dedication to abuse/neglect cases and a genuine concern for children and families
• Good communication with other parties
• Ability to find creative solutions to the problems within the family
• Outstanding professional qualities, including collaboration with other stakeholders
• Involvement with the local team of the Through the Eyes of the Child Initiative

Nominations must be received by July 2, 2009. Award recipients, along with the nominator, will be notified by August 15, 2009.

Recipients of the 2009 Child Champion Awards will be recognized during the Closing Lunch at the 2009 Nebraska Children's Summit in Grand Island on Friday, September 11th.
